Admiral Sidney Souers

From January through June 1946, Admiral Sidney W. Souers was Truman’s first director of the Central Intelligence Group, the CIA’s forerunner. In 1947, at the time when MJ-12 was allegedly being set up, Souers became executive secretary of the National Security Council. He retired in 1950 but was retained as a special consultant to the President on security matters.
